Pura Vida Costa Rica

Pura Vida

Costa Rica is a small, Central American country known for its stunning natural beauty, with lush rainforests, pristine beaches, and active volcanoes. It's also a popular destination for eco-tourism, with a commitment to sustainable tourism practices and a wide range of outdoor activities, such as zip-lining, surfing, and wildlife viewing. Costa Rica has a rich culture and a laid-back, friendly atmosphere. The country is also known for its delicious coffee and fresh, tropical cuisine. The fruit…..oh my! I couldn’t get enough of the sweet, yummy fruit. With its commitment to environmental conservation and its diverse range of experiences, Costa Rica is truly a unique and unforgettable destination.

Our trip began in Arenal (the rainforest/volcanic) region. We flew into San Jose where we were meeted by our friends Victor, Pedro and our driver Henry with Costa Rican Trails. They gave us lunch and were super patient to stop along the way on our 3 hour trek to Nayara Springs.

Arenal

It was dark when we arrived but Nayara Springs was still impressive at night. The staff greeted us with a welcome drink, short property tour and even arranged for dinner. We headed straight to our rooms for a quick peek and then on to dinner.

The next day was all about relaxation and enjoying all the amenities of this beautiful resort.

Eat, pool, spa, pool, and eat some more.

And let me give a shout out to the spa…..one side was open to the rainforest and I thought I had died and gone to heaven.

Rooms & Amenities

The rooms were spectacular and I quickly became obsessed with the outdoor shower and the private hot springs pool!

That evening, we were able to tour the entire property and see the family area and the Tented Camp. No wonder they stay sold out. Wow….just wow! They have the best views in the entire propwerty. Once done, we checked out the wine bar. wine. on. tap. Need I say more?

I love this idea. Such a fun place to chill and relax.

Floating River Safari Trip

Our next day, we headed out early for a floating river safari trip. Henry, our driver, is the perfect guide and spotted sloths on the way so we got an up close view of serveral in the treetops. They realy are the neatest animals. The river trip was a neat way to see the gorgeous landscape and cool animals. We got to see iguanas, lots and lots of birds, white faced monkeys and howler monkeys. Have you ever heard them? Oh my word! I was shocked at the noise of those things. It was wild! (I’m gonna quickly skip over the fact that our guide geeked out when he spotted a rare and very venomous viper. Thank the Lord, it was on land and we were on water!) I think my favorite part was when we ended the trip with a bougee picnic on a locally owned family farm. They fixed us a yummy lunch with items grown on their farm. So special!

We finished the day relaxing in our rooms and then we headed out to La Fortuna for dinner that evening. After 3 amazing nights, we headed out the next morning for a visit to the coastal side.

Stay tuned for Part 2 that was just as amazing but in a whole different way!
