LONDON TREK

London was calling……we answered!

LONDON TREK

We have just returned from another amazing TREK and once again, I am so grateful. This wild idea has come to life and every time we head out, I could just pinch myself. Old friends come together, new friends are found and memories are made that will stay forever!

We opted to stay in one location and really get to know the city of London and everyone agreed it was a good call. The Bloomsbury Hotel was a perfect landing spot. It is a beautiful, boutique hotel in a great location. The staff was so friendly and their breakfast was off the charts. We started the trip with a stroll around the neighborhood, a stop at a pub (of course) and then a traditional English High Tea.

City Tour

Our first full day started off as an absolute dream. We were greeted with a private, vintage, double decker bus for our city tour. OMG…..check out the marquis on it! :)

Our guide did a great job of showing us all the must see spots and filling us with all kinds of London knowledge. We stopped by the Tower bridge, walked around a bit and headed to the London Eye. We loved getting to know our way around the city and have an intro to Trafalgar Square, Big Ben, House of Parliament and much more. On to lunch at Kensington and to see the Palace. I mean…..it’s so hard to believe they still live here on this beautiful property. We had the special treat of lunch on the Pavilion. What a yummy treat!

Windsor Castle

Day Three was probably one of my favorite days— Windsor Castle. The castle was as impressive as I imagined it would be but I fell in love with the city of Windsor. I could have stayed here all day strolling the quaint streets and shops. I totally see why this was Queen Elizabeth’s favorite place to escape to. The grounds were stunning, the castle absolutely breathtaking, and the changing of the guards was surreal. The highlight of the visit, though, had to be at lunch. We had reservations at a local pub right down from the castle. Our amazing guide was telling us that it was the King’s official birthday and if we wanted to wait a bit we might get to see the Red Arrows fly over as part of the celebration. Heck yes! And boy, are we glad we did! It was surreal standing outside an English Pub with Windsor Castle in the background as the Royal flight took place. I’d like to take credit for arranging that but we just happened to be in the right place at the right time and I will never forget it.

Stonehenge

After Windsor, we headed out to Stonehenge. It really is crazy to think all that long ago, this was built without any equipment, tools or anything. It was definitely worth the long drive.

Well…. this sums up the first half of the trip. There’s more to come! See part 2 of London TREK!
